Sun 30 December 2018–Wed 2 January 2019
A four-day riding holiday at Willow Farm could just be the best Christmas present this year! This is a very different experience from our Summer riding holidays and suits braver, outdoorsy kids best. Take a look at what we have planned for you:
Sunday Arrive before 4pm in time to meet the staff and other children, and of course the pony which will be your very own for the next few days. Once unpacked we will have tea, after which you will learn the different types of bridles we have and clean tack ready for the next day.
Monday Up early to feed your pony, we have breakfast while the ponies eat theirs. After which there is time for grooming and tacking up before a long first lesson in our outdoor ménage. In the afternoon there is another lesson, including some polework and jumping practise for the competition the next day.
New Years Eve is a New Year Party, with party food, games, Mocktails and the traditional greeting of 2019 before bed.
Tuesday After feeding ponies and perhaps a slightly later breakfast, we will have a long hack out across the Lincolnshire Fens to appreciate the scenery on hopefully a cold but crispy morning. Back for lunch, the afternoon is filled with a showjumping competition with heights that everyone can join in with, whether you have jumped before or not.
New Years evening is filled with pony crafts and toasting crumpets on a roaring log fire in the farmhouse.
Wednesday After feeding and breakfast, a short last ride before saying goodbye to your pony and waiting for prizegiving – who will have won the most rosettes? At lunchtime you will be re-united with parents and have time to give your pony one last hug before you leave for the journey home.
Cost: £175 which includes horses, lessons, food and accommodation. In the unlikely event that the holiday has to be cancelled due to snow and impassable roads a full refund would be given. We would even issue a voucher to use towards a week or weekend holiday at another time of year if you receive the holiday as a gift and it does not suit at this time.
At this time of the year it is likely to be either frosty or muddy, so we recommend children come prepared to wrap up and ride in all weathers. Please bring WARM clothes – lots of socks and warm pyjamas – a hot water bottle isn’t a bad idea!
