We can offer the following NVQ Courses to students Level 1 Diploma in Work Based Animal Care
101 Maintain safety in workplace
201 Maintain and Develop personal performance

Which includes the following units: N.B. This qualification includes a period of Work Experience locally. Assistance will be given in finding suitable placements. NVQ2 Animal Care will allow entry into Veterinary Nursing Courses and other College and University courses. Unit CU5 Develop personal performance and maintain working relationshipsUnit CU34 Promote and maintain the health and well-being of animals Unit CU37 Establish and maintain animals in their accommodation Unit A Ensure your own actions reduce risks to health and safety (ENTO) Unit AC4 Provide exercise opportunities for animals Unit AC6 Care for and monitor behaviour of visitors to site Unit AC9 Prepare and groom animals Unit CU7 Receive, transmit and store information within the workplace Unit CU31 Assist with the movement of animals Unit CU33 Provide feed and water to animals Unit CU45 Control and restrain animals NVQs are studied for 450hrs a year usually 1 or 2 days a week. You must also be prepared to undertake up to 3hrs home study per week. If you are 16-18yrs you should qualify for EMA. If you are older (and there is no age limit) you may qualify for an Adult Learner Grant or help with transport or childcare from the Student Support fund at the College of West Anglia.. NVQs are FREE to MOST STUDENTS. Please ring us for more details. Other Courses NPTC Skills for Working Life Landbased studies is available for students with learning difficulties. Please ask for details. 14-16 Landbased Diploma may be added in 2008/9, please enquire. ANC (Advanced Nat Diploma a Level 3 Course in Equine Studies may also be added in 2008/9. Please ask. NPTC Skills for Working Life Entry 2 and Entry 3 Level.(Basic qualifications for students with special needs or learning difficulties). Our tutors are qualified NPTC and City and Guilds Assessors with Teaching Qualifications and many years experience of Special Needs. The centre is level and accessible for disabled students. Please contact this centre for full details and to discuss requirements.. The Landbased Studies option include the following units. 101 Recognise Warning Signs and Symbols 102 Respond to a Fire or Smoke Alarm 112 Identify Hazards in Familiar Settings (compulsory units) Plus 5 choices from: 123 Recognise Animal Housing 134 Collect and Sort Eggs 143 Groom a Horse 140 Recognise Colours and Markings of horses 141 Skip out a stable 131 Provide Food and Water 144 Recognise Tack 153 Assist with the cleaning of animal housing
